In the agenda of Vietnam Economic Forum 2019, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Lecturer of Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management, moderated a panel discussion “Solutions to ensure energy security in the context of climate change”.
The panelists feature representatives from Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Kyle Kelhofer (Country Director, IFC Vietnam), Mr. Duong Quang Thanh (CEO Vietnam Electricity), Mr. John Rockold (Executive Director Amcham Vietnam, Head of VBF Power and Energy Group), Mr. Brian Hull (CEO ABB Vietnam), Mr. Mai Van Trung (Business Development Director, SolarBK Vietnam).
The discussion focused on diversification of energy sources.
Key solutions portfolio will include (i) adopting cleaner fuel technologies, (ii) focusing on Energy efficiency and conservation; and (iii) increasing the uptake of renewable energy technology.
International development organizations also committ to supporting Vietnam with direct investment financing, risk mitigation measures and guarantees, helping the country to meet its Nationally Determined Contributions as part of the Paris Agreement.
