Like the multiple careers we endeavor to prepare our students for, Steve Paris has transitioned through careers in electronics, software engineering, meteorology, business development, start-ups, teaching, and most recently, building and leading services to enable student success.
Steve Paris joined Fulbright after some years at RMIT University Vietnam. Starting there as a teacher of information management and technology, he transitioned into leading and developing the student administration and student support services as the university grew from 100s to 1000s of students.
Before coming to South East Asia, Steve held a number of roles in New Zealand at the intersection of technology and media, primarily in software and systems development. His experience in national television, weather information services, and computer service organizations was interspersed with the co-founding of several technology companies.
Opportunities in South East Asia led Steve into business development and technology training roles, first in the Apple channel in Thailand, Myanmar, and Vietnam, then later as the co-founder and manager of a software development outsourcing operation in Vietnam.
Steve is also proud to have served on the Advisory Board of the Loreto Kids Charity in Vietnam.
Supporting this career progression is an undergraduate degree in computer science and instrumentation electronics, a graduate certificate in tertiary teaching and learning, and a master’s degree in educational leadership and management.
Life needs balance, and Steve finds that in creating, cooking, and photographing food that inspires him. Sometimes others enjoy his food it too.
