Professor Nora Taylor, Fulbright University Vietnam’s Distinguished Visiting Professor, has been named Interim Provost at the University. Professor Taylor replaces Dr. Jay Siegel, who resigned from his position as Provost of Fulbright University Vietnam on September 30, 2021.

Dr. Taylor, who is the Alsdorf Professor of South and Southeast Asian Art History at the School of the Art Institute at Chicago (SAIC), brings tremendous experience to this role and to Fulbright. At SAIC, she serves as Chair of the Department of Art History, Theory and Criticism since 2018. She was also the Chair of Faculty Contract and Tenure Review Board in 2013 and the Director of the Graduate Program in Modern and Contemporary Art History from 2009 to 2012.

Professor Taylor is also a dear friend of Vietnam, and of Fulbright. For many years, she has been in close touch with the Fulbright community, the evolution of the University and the undergraduate academic program. Professor Nora Taylor was a member of Fulbright’s academic advisory team in 2019, and will be Fulbright’s distinguished visiting faculty for the Spring term of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Dr. Taylor brings deep knowledge and appreciation for Vietnam, and the region. She lived for nearly a decade in Vietnam and Singapore and travelled extensively in the region for more than 30 years.

In her new role as Interim Provost, Dr. Taylor will work jointly with the Provost Council, the faculty and together with the administration to keep the continuity and momentum of the good work the University has been undertaking.

I am excited to join Fulbright University Vietnam in the role of Interim Provost. Though I am no stranger to the University, I am looking forward to working with the community and the students to further deliver Fulbright’s mission of academic excellence and creating the next generation of changemakers,” says Professor Taylor.

I am so grateful that Nora has accepted the invitation to become Fulbright’s Interim Provost. Leading the academic department is no easy task. However, I trust that with her guidance, we will continue the progress created by our community’s outstanding efforts,” Ms. Dam Bich Thuy, President of Fulbright University Vietnam, reinforces.
