Congratulations to the first members of the 2024 class! You are now an important part of Fulbright and together we will continue to write the history of the first liberal arts university in Vietnam.
The six-month-long journey of the priority admission cycle has ended. Thank you to all the candidates for giving the Admissions Council not only a lot of emotions but also the hope for a generation of young pioneers filled with the desire to know more, who are so responsible and always dedicated to their communities.
Welcome to Fulbright University Vietnam, our lovely freshmen!
Just three days after the drumming ceremony kicked off a new school year nationwide, Fulbright University Vietnam officially opened the application for the undergraduate year 2020-2024 (Class of 2024).
Soon after, the Admissions and Financial Aid Council members traveled to high schools across the country, from selected specialized schools to schools in remote areas, through scholarship organizations for disadvantaged yet promising students. There, they promoted Fulbright – Vietnam’s first nonprofit liberal arts university.
Further supporting admission activities were faculty members who hosted visiting classes across the country, the network of Fulbright alumni. Last but not least, the current Fulbrighters have dedicated their silent contributions to a successful admission process. They organized many fun and dynamic activities in the name of Fulbright, e.g. the fan pages “Road to Fulbright” and “Đỗ Phương Mai” that have become indispensable channels where they share their experience applying to Fulbright. Those pages are followed by students from all over the country.
This admission cycle, Fulbright has received applications domestically from most cities of Vietnam, but also internationally, from Thailand, Australia, Myanmar, USA, Israel, Jamaica, and New Zealand, even though Fulbright has yet to conduct admission activities outside of Vietnam.
Fulbright received high numbers of promising applications. If we had not set an admission cap at 130, Fulbright would probably have taken in a lot more students.
A distinctive aspect of this cycle was the Fulbright Experience Day –originally planned months ago in detail, this had to be re-planned due to the constraints imposed by the Covid-19 crisis. Fulbright was driven to innovate and created a series of virtual activities instead of welcoming the applicants in person at our campus. Supported by technology, this admission activity was successfully carried out thanks to the cooperation and participation of hundreds of high school students both inside and outside of the country.
Every journey has to reach an end eventually. Through many rounds of challenges, from application reviews to personal interviews and panel interviews, many excellent applicants have been chosen. Others were really close to make the cut, and are probably wondering what they are lacking and how else they could improve for the better. The members of Admissions and Financial Aid Council want to tell you that you have completed this cycle beautifully and you should be proud of that. Even if you have yet to reach your destination, you have become a part of Fulbright and Fulbright has now become a part of you.
