Concrete Support in Times of Need

April 4, 2020

While appreciation is important year-round, now is the perfect time to express appreciation. For the past weeks, our news feeds have been dominated by stories about Covid-19. However, not all of them are bad news. There exist many stories of hope and giving, of hard work and resilience, of love and of sacrifice. When combating the pandemic, we know we are not alone.

Even when hope seems frail, Fulbright University Vietnam is privileged to continue receiving the help and support from each and every member of our community, from our students, faculty and staff, to our supportive friends, donors and partners. We cherish this encouragement and support which enables us to make a difference in this time of need.

We would like to thank our friends and donors, who silently have our back in both merry and difficult times. Living up to their effort, Fulbright understands that supporting a strong and healthy community is important to us, too.

We’re proud to partner with AmCham Vietnam-HCMC’s Healthcare Committee to aid in the effort to equip Vietnamese healthcare professionals with very difficult-to-find surgical face masks. In two days, Fulbright faculty and staff contributed a total of VND 32 million (~ USD 1,500) to this effort. And we just want to thank them for their formidable giving spirit. In such challenging time, they did not hesitate to spare some of their earnings to help Vietnam fight Covid-19.

We also want to thank our faculty and staff for rising to the occasion and quickly adapting a new teaching platform to meet our students’ emerging needs of online learning. For that, Fulbright also wants to thank our students for trusting us and standing by us in this difficult time.

Last but not least, we want to thank our trusted partner, FunBee Production, for working tirelessly on this meaningful video clip, and for letting us spread this useful message to our community without even one request for compensation. This optimistic message is crucial and leads to such a positive behavioral change that our community needs at this moment to fight this virus.

This is a difficult time, but we believe that the Fulbright community is a resilient and caring one. Together, we will weather this crisis.
