Andrew Maguire has been appointed the Director of Strategy and Innovation at Fulbright University Vietnam.
Andrew is an international development practitioner driven to create more inclusive and effective education systems globally. He began his career at World Learning, an international NGO dedicated to empowering young leaders through education, exchange and civil society programming.
During his four years at the organization, he led program design and proposal writing & management for prospective donors. Andrew also launched and led an internal working group on LGBTI inclusion to better support staff and program participants.
As an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University in the United States, Andrew studied American Studies and Psychology and served as president of Vanderbilt’s Model United Nations.
His passion for inclusive international development led him to New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service, where he studied International Policy and Management. During this time, Andrew supported the foundation relations team at Doctors Without Borders and built public-private partnerships at the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships.
Most recently, he served as a Fellow at the Catalyst Foundation for Universal Education, where he provided programmatic and strategic guidance for non-formal refugee education programming in the Middle East.
Andrew eagerly joins Fulbright as part of the Luce Scholars program, a fellowship program which places 18 young Americans across Asia for a year-long professional placement in their discipline.
Back in New York, Andrew spends his free time eating delicious New York bagels and playing (too competitively) on a gay volleyball team and hopes to seek out more food and sports adventures in Vietnam.
