Ha Quang Hung

Dr. Ha Quang Hung was the consultant for the World Bank Vietnam, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Vietnam, and British Ordnance Survey in Vietnam in projects in remote sensing applications for land use/land cover mapping, climate change, flood hazard monitoring and prevention, and survey.

Before joining Fulbright University Vietnam, Dr. Hung taught at the State University of New York at Fredonia and Indiana State University. Hung holds a doctoral degree from Indiana State University and a master’s degree from the University of Twente, faculty ITC (Netherlands). His main research themes include geographic information systems/remote sensing for environmental management, environmental hazards, water issues, and policy-making based on spatial analysis. Geospatial big data, R and Python programming, and Google Earth Engine are tools Hung is using to answer the questions related to environmental management and social development.

Hung serves as a consultant for the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam in policy development and technological transfer.

Joining Fulbright University Vietnam, Hung is working on geospatial data analysis for policy development, environmental protection, and sustainable agriculture in the Mekong River Delta.
