Duy Linh Tu is an educator, journalist, and documentary filmmaker, focusing on climate change and social justice. His work has appeared in print, online, on television, and in theaters. He is also the author of Narrative Storytelling for Multimedia Journalists (Focal Press). His next book, Video Journalism and Documentary Storytelling: A Professional Guide (Focal Press) will be published in 2022.
Professor Tu is an Associate Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where he has taught for more than 20 years. His courses include reporting, video storytelling, and documentary filmmaking. He is also a graduate of the program.
Professor Tu’s film credits include deepsouth (Producer/DP), The Wait at Matamoros (Director/Producer), Picture a Scientist (DP), and The Last Holdouts (Director/Producer). He serves on the boards of the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, Columbia Journalism Review, and the Video Consortium.
