Research Interests: Dana’s current work and research are focused on community philanthropy, community-led development, evaluation of social change initiatives, equity and inclusion.

Bio:

Dana R.H. Doan is a Ph.D. candidate in philanthropic studies at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy (LFSOP) with a minor in policy analysis at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She attained a master’s degree from the University of Michigan Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and a bachelor’s degree in History from Northwestern University. Dana is a member and volunteer for the International Sector for Third Sector Research (ISTR) and the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA).

Dana has over 20 years of work experience leading, consulting, advising, and conducting research on philanthropy and social purpose organizations in the U.S.A., Asia, and Latin America. In 2009, she helped establish the LIN Center for Community Development in Ho Chi Minh City to support and meet the needs of philanthropic individuals and institutions in and around Viet Nam. Dana continues to volunteer for the philanthropic community in the US and Southeast Asia.  She is committed to bridging research and practice, contributing to both academic and practitioner-oriented publications.
