Chien Teng grew up in Malaysia’s local education system. At age 17, with the help of a merit scholarship from a British boarding school, Chien Teng was able to study the British A-Levels and later pursue her tertiary education at Brown and Oxford.

Chien Teng believes that her varied educational experiences have fundamentally shaped the person she is today. Passionate about equal opportunity, she is excited to help Fulbright University Vietnam bring world-class US liberal arts education to Southeast Asia.

Chien Teng joins Fulbright from McKinsey and Company. Based out of the London office, she spent two years consulting clients in Europe, North America, and Asia. At McKinsey, Chien Teng founded Asians at McKinsey (AAM) in Europe, a network that promotes the development and advancement of colleagues of Asian backgrounds.

She has previously worked for Grab, Khazanah, and Citigroup.

Chien Teng is dedicated to helping youth reach their full potential. Since 2014, she has been a leader at the International Council of Malaysian Scholars and Associates, a nonprofit focused on the development of Malaysian youth. Between 2014 and 2016, she served as their Deputy Chief Executive Director, leading a team of 150 associates across 6 countries to fundraise and organize programs, including the notable Malaysian Public Policy Competition. She is also an advisor and mentor at London Strategic Consulting, a nonprofit student consultancy.

In her free time, Chien Teng enjoys reading, playing board games, listening to podcasts, and babysitting dogs.

Chien Teng graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and East Asian Studies. She also received First Class Honors during her junior year abroad as a Visiting Student at the University of Oxford, where she read Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
