On June 8, 2023, Fulbright University Vietnam was honored to welcome the Delegation of California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) in the Letter of Intent Signing Ceremony. Here, a Letter of Intent (LOI) to develop academic and educational cooperation as well as to promote relations between the two institutions was signed by Dr. Framroze Virjee, President of California State University, Fullerton, and Ms. Dam Bich Thuy, President of Fulbright University Vietnam.
Fulbright and CSUF agreed to foster an academic cooperation, in areas of common interest which include :
- Exchange of faculty members and researchers, exchange of students, joint research, lectures, talks and symposiums.
- Pursue education and training opportunities.
Ms. Dam Bich Thuy highlights the enthusiasm of Fulbright University Vietnam to bring new perspectives and make valuable contributions to these international partnerships, despite being relatively young compared to Cal State Fullerton:
“We are still a very young university compared to all the legacy that you have had in the U.S., but we hope that being young and new, we can bring to the table innovations that can make it worthwhile for the partnership.”
In response to Ms. Dam Bich Thuy, Dr. Framroze Virjee acknowledges the differences between the two countries and universities but emphasizes the shared commonalities and the pride in being the largest educator of Vietnamese students in the United States:
“We are two very different countries and very different universities, but we have so much in common. We are pleased to have the opportunity to be together… I notice you believe in diversity from bringing students from all over Vietnam here, to Fulbright. We believe in the same thing. We believe diversity breeds intellectual curiosity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and a better future.”
This alignment of values and missions creates a strong foundation for the collaboration between Fulbright University Vietnam and California State University, Fullerton.
Specifically, at the ceremony, Fulbright students had the opportunity to share their exchange aspirations and suggest ways in which the two institutions can cooperate to help students from both universities get the most out of exchange programs. This has been agreed by the leaderships of both universities.
The Letter of Intent Signing Ceremony between Fulbright University Vietnam and California State University, Fullerton was a resounding success. We express our gratitude to all participants, including representatives and distinguished guests and students, for their valuable presence and contributions. We anticipate that this academic partnership will lead to innovative collaborations, transformative educational experiences, and a brighter future for both institutions.
