It seems ironic that, in a world which is increasingly competitive, most managers fail to appreciate the basic nature of competition. And more importantly, they don’t know how to win…or keep on winning. The purpose of this keynote, therefore, is to outline the processes for achieving and maintaining superior performance in competitive industries, by reviewing the nature of competition. It begins by introducing one model of competition: the Resource-Advantage theory. It then links competition to innovation. Finally, it discusses the notion of sustainable advantage.
