Introduction

This course will introduce students to different ways of thinking about sound art, alongside with creating an acoustic work. The emphasis will be on thinking of sound as an artistic material and focusing on its expressive possibilities for generating physical and mental spaces. Students will be introduced to and have ample opportunity to gain proficiency with different hardware and software for both field and studio recordings. The practical and theoretical knowledge learnt in this course, paired with site visits and active listening sessions, are for developing a critical appreciation of sound and for creating self-directed projects.
