On October 23 in Hanoi, Fulbright was warmly welcomed by nearly 220 high school students and their parents across the city, Northern and North Central Coast of Vietnam. Many participants embarked early, or even the day before, from Thanh Hóa, Bắc Ninh, Hưng Yên, Bắc Giang, Hải Phòng, Nam Định, Thái Nguyên, even Hà Tĩnh and Nghệ An in order to join us at “Your Liberal Arts journey with Fulbright” meet-and-greet.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the largest off-campus event of Fulbright’s Admissions and Financial Aid department. Coming to Hanoi this time, Fulbright flew a large group of faculty members, staff and above all, current Fulbright students.
The event was a tremendous help to interested students. They got to learn about liberal arts at Fulbright, specifically core courses, exploratory courses, elective courses, and major courses. Students and parents were also curious about how to kickstart the career pathway as a freshman student. Fulbright’s faculty members were delighted to receive repeated questions related to future in-demand jobs that require an interdisciplinary mindset like screenwriters, communications consultants, business analysts, psychology counselors, or software developers. For your pursuit of these careers, Fulbright and liberal arts education can unlock students’ fullest potential in developing a critical-thinking skill through interconnected subjects.
In addition, the Admissions and Financial Aid team was beyond happy to receive many inquiries about previous successors’ extracurricular activities and original pieces of work. This showed that the northern candidates had started their applications and were ready to become a member of Fulbright.
Furthermore, the vibrant presence of current Fulbright students, among them Actress, MC, Model and Co-Designer Nguyễn Lâm Thảo Tâm also brought warmth to many participants. Together with her peers, Thảo Tâm described her university life at Fulbright, and shed light on how to deal with stress and her take on ‘Work-life balance is overrated’.
