Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam—The YSEALI Academy at Fulbright University Vietnam (Fulbright) announced that the first Public Policy flagship seminar on Energy Economics and Policy is now open for applications.
Launched in 2020, YSEALI Academy’s main mission is to organize seminars and workshops fostering the capacity for young professionals, juniors and middle management levels aged 25-40 from across Southeast Asia (Fellow). Specifically, applicants from all 10 ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste between ages 25-35 with no previous YSEALI experience or YSEALI alumni between ages 36-40 are eligible.
In 2021, YSEALI Academy plans to offer three flagship seminars addressing challenging issues facing the region such as energy economics and policy, contemporary cybersecurity challenges and opportunities, and fundamentals of startup investing in Southeast Asia.
The aim of the two-week Public Policy seminar on Energy Economics and Policy is to provide training on mainstream and emerging energy technologies in Southeast Asia, and key macroeconomic and policy tools for analyzing and impacting these trends. Through the course, Fellows can understand and apply basic economic frameworks and policy tools to addressing energy issues. The seminar combines theoretical and experiential learning and includes high-impact practical experiences relating to maximize the engagement of participants.
The seminar will be offered by affiliate faculty from Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management, practitioners from the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Fulbright, Harvard Kennedy School, international and regional scholars, and industry experts to develop and deliver learning materials and activities that are academically rigorous and yet practical to young professionals in ASEAN.
The Public Policy seminar on Energy Economics and Policy will be open to 25 YSEALI fellows who are young professionals with experience in the energy sector. Once selected, all participants will be fully funded by the U.S. Department of State. Participants will be required to commit at least 36 hours for online seminar activities and approximately 12 additional hours for individual and group assignments over a period of 2 weeks. Some sessions will be offered during working hours.

- Participant selection announced: June 07, 2021
- Seminar dates: July 05–16, 2021 (two weeks, ten working days, Monday – Friday)

However, we will ensure that there will be many opportunities to enhance learning and leading experiences and networking opportunities,” he added.
Starting in 2022, YSEALI Academy will offer face-to-face seminars in Vietnam.
