“The Group Interview Day was indeed eventful with various activities tailored for both parents and students. Throughout the two days, I could feel the strong passion, dedication, and student-centric spirit from each person at Fulbright University Vietnam.
It showed even clearer on my son’s smile today when I picked him up from the interview; he must have had an enjoyable and meaningful day. On behalf of other parents, I would like to give my sincere appreciation to Fulbright University Vietnam for all you have been doing,” said a mother from Hue in a sharing session after Fulbright’s first Group Interview Day to recruit the first Undergraduate class, the Class of 2023.
Nearly 100 high school students participated in this first Group Interview Day. Though the name carries a serious connotation, our young students experienced otherwise: a day full of laughter and surprises.
Unlike in the usual contests, which students feel that they have to compete for a spot, the short-listed candidates came into Crescent Campus to collaborate and help each other overcome many challenges the Admissions team gave them.
All these activities were designed so that each participant could still have room to shine as an individual and as a team-player while working in groups.
Ms. Le Thi Quynh Tram, Fulbright’s Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, kept reminding the students: “The Group Interview Day aims to get to know who you are, and which skills you have acquired and mastered.
We do not test you on all the textbook knowledge you have gained in school but only have a short period of time to cram. Thus, coming to this Group Interview Day, you only need to relax, prepare to mingle, and get ready to shine.”
The first Group Interview Day ended with group-selfie, phone number exchange, Facebook friend requests, and other means to keep contact in the future. There was no competition.
All that left was pure friendships between innocent young students meeting for the first time. The remaining 100 short-listed candidates will take part in the second Group Interview Day, which will be held this Sunday, March 03. Don’t forget to take a deep breath and start fresh for your big day!
