Growing up in Vinh Phuc, Lam dreamt of becoming a diplomat. She chased that dream to the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. Eventually, her determination to speak her mind and pursue the truth, wherever it leads, led Lam’s teachers to suggest she consider journalism as an alternative to diplomacy.
As a reporter and editor at VietnamNet, Lam sought to present her readers with multiple perspectives on public problems. Lam created Vietnam Week, Vietnam’s first online public affairs forum, through which she provided a platform to leading public intellectuals from Vietnam and around the world so they may discuss and debate important issues.
Lam won a Fulbright Scholarship to study public policy at Georgetown University. She reveled in the opportunity to live and study in Washington, DC. There, she was pleasantly surprised to discover she could find a bowl of pho almost comparable to those of her hometown.
As Fulbright University Vietnam’s communications director, Lam is eager to share Fulbright’s story with the world. For her, it’s the most important story she’s ever covered.
As the university’s communications director, she devotes her efforts to share our story and vision with the world so that everyone may learn about the great opportunities they can find at Fulbright.
