Graduating with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Human-Centered Engineering, Class of 2025 graduate Pham Dang Yen Nhi will continue her journey as a Machine Learning Engineer at Reforged Labs. This AI startup, backed by Y Combinator – a leading venture capital fund in Silicon Valley – develops AI-powered marketing solutions, with a particular focus on the gaming industry.

It may come as a surprise that someone as outgoing as Nhi chose to pursue a field often seen as “dry” and highly technical, like Computer Science. But it was during her time at Fulbright University Vietnam that Nhi discovered her true passion – a space where she could write algorithms, fix bugs, build and test models, and witness firsthand the practical impact of technology in real life.

That passion was nurtured through each class, every group project, and, most importantly, the mentorship of dedicated faculty. Dr. Huynh The Dang was the first to ignite her interest in Machine Learning through his approachable teaching style that encouraged independent thinking and learning through trial and error. Meanwhile, Dr. Doan Nhat Minh helped Nhi overcome her fear of “getting hands-on with technology,” and supported her in gradually mastering her minor in Human-Centered Engineering. Thanks to her professors, Nhi not only found a clear academic direction but also built the resilience to experiment, make mistakes, and persist until success.

Nhi’s decision to join Reforged Labs over larger tech corporations was deeply rooted in the mindset cultivated at Fulbright – one of lifelong learning and proactive exploration. To her, this startup is more than just a job; it is an ideal environment to grow professionally, pursue her passions, and contribute to a global-facing tech community.
On the other side of the story, Reforged Labs also expresses strong belief in Vietnam’s young generation of engineers. In an article published by Dân trí Newspaper, Mr. Robert Huynh – Co-founder and CEO of Reforged Labs – shared that the company’s decision to establish its legal entity in Vietnam stemmed from its trust in the country’s young technical talent. He specifically highlighted Nhi as a prime example of the outstanding ability and continuous learning spirit found in students from Vietnam’s top universities.

We wish Nhi continued confidence, courage, and passion in technology as she continues to shine on her journey ahead.
