AI Institute - Fulbright University Vietnam

On May 19, 2025, Fulbright University Vietnam launched the Fulbright AI Institute – an interdisciplinary hub dedicated to AI education, research, and thought leadership. Supported in part by Google, the institute functions as an independent center reporting directly to the Office of the President. It focuses on how AI drives innovation across both the sciences and humanities, while exploring the ways society adapts to these technological shifts.

Our mission is to be a premier academic hub for AI innovation and research. We strive to cultivate a culture of openness and proactive readiness, empowering our community to not only navigate the changing technological landscape but to actively shape a future where AI serves humanity.

AI Institute shared a vision to contribute and actively participate in the worldwide conversation in AI and technology. Moreover, as a university-based center, we also aim to integrate AI applications into teaching

At the Fulbright AI Institute, we offer a diverse range of internship pathways designed for students to thrive both within our internal research teams and externally through our network of high-ranking technology hubs. As a university-based center, we take immense pride in our track record of nurturing the next generation of tech leaders. Our interns don’t just watch from the sidelines; they are integrated into the heart of Fulbright’s mission to build a tech-savvy youth. We are committed to lowering the barrier to entry for emerging talent, believing that early immersion in AI is the key to developing the critical thinking and technical agility required in today’s workforce.

As a dedicated hub for innovation, the Fulbright AI Institute champions research at the intersection of diverse academic disciplines. Guided by Fulbright’s liberal arts spirit, we recognize that the most complex challenges of the 21st century cannot be solved in isolation. We move beyond traditional silos, using AI as a bridge between STEM, Social Sciences, and the Humanities. By integrating these perspectives, we ensure our research is not only technically rigorous but also socially responsible and ethically grounded, providing comprehensive solutions that resonate across all sectors of society.

Our work is guided by three non-negotiable standards:

• Ethical Integrity: Every project undergoes rigorous screening to prevent bias and ensure the protection of individual privacy.
• Academic Excellence: We employ interdisciplinary validation to ensure that our data is accurate, reproducible, and impactful.
• Transparency & Openness: We believe in research that is explainable, documented, and open to critical academic scrutiny.

Currently, we are focusing our research on 3 main topics: 

• Applying LLMs to Complex Biological Systems (Dr. Huynh Viet Linh)
• Deep Learning for Robotic Systems (Dr. Huynh The Dang)
• Autonomous Physical AI (Dr. Le Quan & Dr. Phung Manh Duong)

The Fulbright AI Institute serves as a vibrant forum for dialogue through our ongoing series of seminars and workshops. To date, we have hosted numerous sessions focusing on the practical application of AI in daily life and its transformative role across diverse industries – from healthcare to the creative arts. Our events are designed to demystify complex technologies, making AI accessible to everyone. Looking ahead, we are committed to expanding our calendar with even more interactive seminars and public talks, providing a space where students, professionals, and the curious can equip themselves with the tools to thrive in an AI-augmented future.
