Message from the President: Choose to trust in a volatile world
Dear cherished friends,
As you hold this publication, I trust that the rhythm of a hopeful new year is beginning to unfold—and that you are finding a quiet moment for yourself, a moment to look back with Fulbright on the journey of 2025.
2025 has been a year of constant movement and change, raising many questions about beliefs. The rapid growth of science and technology has gently urged us to revisit many familiar assumptions about teaching and learning, about careers and purpose, and about the values that guide our lives, especially at a time when society itself has faced significant tests of trust.
It is in this context that Believing is no longer something that simply happens to us. Choosing to believe has become an act of courage, one that helps us locate ourselves, affirm the core values that matter to us as individuals and as a community. It is also the quiet light that helps guide our next steps forward.
For many years, the Fulbright community has spoken about three familiar pillars: Know – Do – Be.
While knowledge (“Know”) may be accessed quickly and skills (“Do”) refined through practice, Be demands a sustained commitment—one rooted in mindset, character, and responsibility to the community. At Fulbright, we believe that regardless of age or field—whether one is an entrepreneur, scientist, engineer, scholar, artist, researcher, or policymaker—what ultimately allows us to stand firm lies not only in what we know or what we do, but in the choices we make about who we become in the roles we hold.
In times like these, what gives us reassurance and strength is the enduring companionship of the Fulbright community, especially our donors and supporters, who continue to place their trust in our shared mission. This trust is expressed not only through generous support, but through a long-term commitment to the core values of liberal education, which remains inseparable from Fulbright’s educational mission.
As we look ahead to 2026, Fulbright enters an exciting new chapter as our campus in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hi-Tech Park gradually takes shape. This is more than the creation of a new learning environment; it is a long-term commitment to nurturing individuals who think independently, act responsibly, and remain deeply connected to the communities they serve. Within this new and inspiring space, belief is once again placed in people themselves—those who will live, learn, work, and together create enduring value for both the present and the future.
May we all continue to move forward with steadiness, guided by what we choose to believe in—and carry that belief, as seeds of knowledge, care, and courage, into the decisions we make, the actions we take, and the responsibilities we share along the road ahead.
