What began as a friendship between two students grew into Miracle Concert—a shared musical journey that brought students from Fulbright University Vietnam and Harvard University closer together through music and a shared appreciation for Vietnamese culture.
A highlight of the evening was the collaborative performance by the Fulbright Choir and The Harvard Din & Tonics, who reimagined the Vietnamese folk songs Bèo dạt mây trôi and Trèo lên quán dốc in a contemporary a cappella mashup. Through fresh harmonies and new interpretations, these familiar melodies offered a meaningful way for young people to reconnect with Vietnam’s cultural heritage while introducing its musical traditions to an international audience.
“I hope Miracle Concert will be more than a one-night performance. I hope it becomes the beginning of a network connecting students from Fulbright, Harvard, and many other universities around the world,” shared Lê Thị Việt Anh, a Fulbright student and member of the organizing team.
For Khang Nguyen, President of The Harvard Din & Tonics, the concert also carried a deeply personal meaning:
“As a Vietnamese American, I’ve always hoped to bring The Harvard Din & Tonics to perform in Vietnam and, at the same time, share the beauty of Vietnamese music and culture with friends from around the world.”
Through learning, rehearsing, and performing together, students from both universities demonstrated that cultural heritage continues to thrive when young people engage with it through curiosity, respect, and creativity.
