In the context of globalization, young Vietnamese are proving their role not only as global citizens but also as cultural ambassadors, bringing the image of Vietnam to the world.
During the roundtable discussion “We Are Vietnam”, organized by Tuổi Trẻ Xuân Ất Tỵ 2025, 13 young individuals from various countries shared their stories about promoting Vietnamese culture in international communities. Through activities such as presentations, cultural performances, and the use of traditional áo dài and Vietnamese cuisine, these young ambassadors have left a distinct impression on international audiences.
Dr. Nguyễn Nam from Fulbright University Vietnam expressed: “At the age of 70, despite being in academia, every time I interact with young people, I feel rejuvenated and motivated to adapt and keep up with them. Listening today to your discussions about bringing Vietnam to the world and preparing to take on the responsibility of leading the country, I see my future and the country’s future shining brightly through you. You are absolutely right that generational transitions must be a two-way path, not merely left to the passage of time. We must accelerate the process—each generation must open their minds, listen, reflect, learn, and create. Only by fostering this two-way transition can we together build a better future. As a cultural researcher, I am even more delighted to see today’s youth so conscious of preserving and promoting cultural heritage. Creative thinking is what breathes life into heritage. It’s not just history that holds heritage; we will also create the heritage of our era. You will leave your marks on this nation, integrating that heritage into the world and turning it into a vibrant color in the global mosaic. Through openness and engagement with the world, we will illuminate the unique characteristics of Vietnamese people. We are Vietnamese in relation to the world.”
These inspiring stories not only reaffirm the spirit of national pride but also highlight the importance of preserving and promoting cultural values in the modern era.
