
Fulbright University Vietnam is pleased to announce the signing of an Agreement with SUNY Buffalo State University (New York, USA), establishing the Fulbright–SUNY Buffalo State 3+2 Program in Data Science and Analytics.
This academic collaboration offers high-achieving Fulbright students an accelerated, high-quality pathway to earn both a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and a Master of Science (M.S.) in approximately five years, while gaining valuable international academic experience in the United States.
Reflecting on the value of the pathway, Dr. Tran Vinh Linh, Faculty Member of Applied Mathematics, shared: “The Fulbright–SUNY Buffalo State pathway is designed to help students earn a master’s degree in Data Science in a faster and more cost-effective way, while benefiting from the academic rigor of a reputable U.S. university.”

Program Overview
The Fulbright–SUNY Buffalo State 3+2 Program is designed for students who aspire to pursue advanced training in data science, analytics, and related interdisciplinary fields. By combining Fulbright’s liberal arts and science foundation with SUNY Buffalo State’s applied, industry-aligned graduate education, the program prepares students for leadership roles in a data-driven global economy.

Program Structure
Years 1–3: Study at Fulbright University Vietnam
Students complete three years of undergraduate study at Fulbright, fulfilling:
- A minimum of 96 credits
- All required major and preparatory coursework in data science and analytics
This stage emphasizes strong foundations in quantitative reasoning, programming, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning.
Year 4: Advanced Coursework at SUNY Buffalo State
Students enroll at SUNY Buffalo State University as visiting, non-matriculated undergraduate students and complete advanced-level coursework.
- Up to 30 credits may be transferred back to Fulbright
- Upon meeting all undergraduate requirements, Fulbright University Vietnam confers the B.S. degree
Year 5: Master’s Degree at SUNY Buffalo State
Eligible students may apply for formal admission to the M.S. in Data Science and Analytics at SUNY Buffalo State.
- Students complete graduate-level coursework, including applied research and internship components
- SUNY Buffalo State University confers the M.S. degree upon successful completion
Admission Criteria (Master’s Phase)
To progress into the Master’s phase at SUNY Buffalo State, students must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Completion of required mathematics and programming coursework (including Python)
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT: 79 / IELTS: 6.0 / Duolingo English Test: 100
- Statement of intent, interview, official academic transcripts, proof of financial capacity
