From Singapore to Finland: Fulbright Expands Global Learning and Career Pathways for Students

At Fulbright University Vietnam, learning extends beyond the classroom through meaningful connections with international institutions and industry partners. By integrating academic knowledge with real-world experiences, Fulbright empowers students to explore different perspectives, develop practical skills, and prepare for opportunities in an increasingly interconnected world.

Building on this commitment and recent partnership agreements with leading universities worldwide, such as American University, the University of Birmingham, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Fulbright recently hosted two information sessions introducing international learning and professional development opportunities: the Fulbright – Quest Regional Fellowships Program 2026–2027 and Study and Live in Finland – University of Oulu. Together, the sessions highlighted two distinct pathways for students to gain international exposure, from hands-on experience in venture capital in Singapore to academic exploration and technological innovation in Finland.

Bridging Academic Learning and Industry Experience in Singapore

Marking Fulbright’s first regional placement program, the Fulbright – Quest Regional Fellowships Program 2026–2027 represents a new opportunity for students to engage directly with the international investment landscape.

Developed in partnership with Quest Ventures – one of the 10 most active investors in Southeast Asia and Central Asia, the program offers 10 Fulbright students the opportunity to work as Analyst Interns and AI Engineer Interns. Over 12 weeks, participants will begin with 10 days of in-person onboarding in Singapore, followed by 11 weeks of remote work from Vietnam.

By participating in the program as Analyst Interns, students will have the opportunity to directly execute deal sourcing, investment analysis, due diligence, financial modeling, and industry research. Meanwhile, those taking on the role of AI Engineer Interns will contribute directly to technology product development and the application of AI tools at startups. In doing so, they will apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to real-world projects while receiving mentorship from experienced industry professionals.

During the information session, students gained insights into the program structure, selection process, and available financial support. Experience-sharing discussions with a student and a former intern offered additional perspectives on navigating professional environments, adapting to new challenges, and translating academic knowledge into practical skills.

Exploring Academic and Innovation Opportunities in Finland

Complementing the professional experience offered in Singapore, the Study and Live in Finland – University of Oulu session introduced students to international academic pathways, research opportunities, and innovation in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Through discussions with university representatives, current University of Oulu students, and a Fulbright student who participated in the fully funded Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) Summer Programme 2026, participants gained firsthand insights into the university’s academic environment, its approach to research and technological innovation, and the cultural experiences of studying and living in Finland.

The session also introduced opportunities for students to engage in international innovation activities and explore participation in the upcoming ITEE Summer Programme in August 2027.

Creating Meaningful Pathways for Global Engagement

While focusing on different disciplines and experiences, both programs reflect Fulbright’s approach to connecting academic learning with opportunities beyond the university:

  • Experiential Learning Beyond the Classroom: Enabling students to apply interdisciplinary knowledge and develop practical skills through professional projects, international academic programs, and research experiences.
  • Broader International Perspectives: Encouraging students to engage with different academic cultures, professional practices, and approaches to problem-solving.
  • Global Networks and Future Opportunities: Connecting students with international institutions, industry professionals, and mentors who can support their academic exploration and career development.

Through initiatives such as these, Fulbright continues to strengthen its international partnerships and expand opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning journeys. Whether exploring venture capital in Singapore or technological innovation in Finland, students are encouraged to approach new experiences with curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to learn beyond familiar boundaries.
