“Developing Vietnam” is a unique course, a product of the collaboration between Fulbright University Vietnam and Dartmouth College (USA). This program offers a comprehensive view of Vietnam, including its history, religion, environment, and economy.
In October 2024, Fulbright students embarked on a journey to the United States, visiting significant historical and cultural landmarks such as the Ho Chi Minh memorial at the Omni Parker House hotel and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. In December, Dartmouth students reciprocated with a three-week trip to Vietnam to research and learn about development on various scales, from the Phú Mỹ Hưng urban area and Bến Tre province to the broader context of Vietnam. These trips provided students with opportunities to immerse themselves in new cultures, develop critical thinking skills, and cultivate a global perspective.
Beyond theory, students engaged in practical research on diverse topics related to Vietnam, ranging from street food vendors to the immense potential of the semiconductor chip industry. Cross-cultural collaboration not only deepened their understanding of different work styles but also honed their research skills for the future. The course culminated in a documentary film project, where students creatively merged academic rigor with artistic expression to paint vibrant portraits of a “Developing Vietnam.”
