U.S. Senator Visit

On July 19th, 2024, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth will be visiting Fulbright University Vietnam. Senator Duckworth is a veteran of the Iraq War, where she served as a US Army helicopter pilot. During the war, her helicopter was shot down by Iraqi insurgents, resulting in the loss of both her legs. Despite her injuries, she continued to serve in the Army for the next ten years, eventually retiring as a lieutenant colonel. In 2016, two years after her retirement, she was elected to the U.S. Senate. Senator Duckworth is the second Asian American woman to serve in the Senate, the first woman with a disability elected to Congress, and the first senator to give birth while in office.
