Tiểu sử: Tiến sĩ William H. O’Brien, ABPP, sẽ gia nhập Đại học Fulbright vào tháng 8 năm 2026 với cương vị Giáo sư tâm lý học. Trước khi đến với FUV, Tiến sĩ O’Brien là Giáo sư chính thức trong chương trình đào tạo tiến sĩ tâm lý học lâm sàng (được chuẩn hóa bởi Hiệp hội Tâm lý học Hoa Kỳ – APA) tại Đại học Bowling Green State, Hoa Kỳ.
Tiến sĩ O’Brien là chuyên gia tâm lý lâm sàng được cấp chứng chỉ hội đồng (board-certified) với chuyên môn sâu về trị liệu hành vi nhận thức và y học hành vi. Ông là người sáng lập và giám đốc của Phòng thí nghiệm Trị liệu Hành vi Chánh niệm và Sinh lý học Tâm lý (MAPLab) – một nhóm quốc tế gồm các nhà khoa học-thực hành chuyên tâm vào việc thúc đẩy nghiên cứu và thực hành sức khỏe tâm thần xuyên văn hóa toàn cầu, kết hợp với việc tìm hiểu cách các hệ thống tâm-sinh-xã hội ảnh hưởng đến hạnh phúc của con người.
Xuyên suốt sự nghiệp của mình, Tiến sĩ O’Brien luôn duy trì sự tích hợp chặt chẽ giữa đào tạo khoa học với cam kết thực hành lâm sàng, hướng dẫn sinh viên và hợp tác liên ngành. Chương trình nghiên cứu của ông kéo dài hơn ba thập kỷ và đã mang lại hơn 100 bài báo trên các tạp chí chuyên ngành, các chương sách và hai cuốn sách về đánh giá và trị liệu hành vi nhận thức.
Ông từng nhận Học bổng Nghiên cứu Quốc tế tại Đại học Chiang Mai (2026) và là học giả của chương trình Fulbright Distinguished Chair chuyên ngành Khoa học Xã hội tại Trung Quốc và Thái Lan (2020/2021). Tiến sĩ O’Brien cũng từng là giáo sư thỉnh giảng tại Đại học Duke Côn Sơn, Đại học Sư phạm Hoa Đông (Trung Quốc), Đại học Chulalongkorn (Thái Lan) và Đại học Chiang Mai (Thái Lan). Ông đã nhận được hơn 1,5 triệu USD tiền tài trợ nghiên cứu và đào tạo, hướng dẫn thành công hơn 35 luận án tiến sĩ và chủ trì nhiều đợt kiểm định chương trình của APA.
