Nguyễn Nhật Thuỷ Tiên was born in 2003 in Huế City. From 2018 to 2021, she studied Literature at Quốc Học High School for the Gifted in Huế, achieving positive results in National Literature Competitions. Moreover, she co-founded Bống, an independent organization dedicated to exploring culture from an artistic perspective.
From 2021 to 2024, Thuỷ Tiên majored in International Business at an international university. Living in Ho Chi Minh City was a transformative experience, reigniting her interest in minority communities, religion, and sexuality. This period prompted her to re-examine the core values she had been pursuing, confronting the social prejudices that had influenced her and challenging herself to step out of her comfort zone. In November 2023, after navigating the complexities of her inner emotions, Thuỷ Tiên chose to apply to Fulbright University Vietnam following her actual passions.
With a desire for future generations to receive an education that encourages self-exploration and appreciation of the world’s diverse beauty, rather than being confined to the pressure of grades, Thuỷ Tiên has actively hosted liberal education activities for children aged 4 to 10 since 2021. She views language and art as powerful approaches to stimulate creativity, helping children acquire knowledge with initiative and enthusiasm.
At Fulbright University Vietnam, Thuỷ Tiên plans to pursue majors in Arts & Media Studies and Vietnamese Studies. Alongside her commitment to liberal education, she will continue to research Arts & Culture, with a focus on the implicit heritages of her homeland.
Let’s revisit the speech delivered by our student representative, Nguyen Nhat Thuy Tien, at Convocation 2024.
