Fields of Interest: physiological roles of Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels and other ion channels in normal and pathological conditions; I am also interested in investigating the application of herbs in drug development.

Education:

  • Ph.D. 2020, The Graduate University for Advanced Studies, Japan
  • Postdoc: 2020-2022 National Institute for Physiological Sciences, Japan.

Bio:

Dr. Dung Nguyen joined Fulbright University Vietnam in June 2022. Her research focuses on the physiological roles of Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels and other ion channels in normal and pathological conditions. She is also interested in investigating the application of herbs in drug development. Her objective as a faculty member in Integrated Sciences is to support students to develop their studying interests in biology. As an interdisciplinary scientist with extensive training in physiology and neurobiology, she attempts to provide Fulbright University Vietnam’s students with essential skills to effectively conduct their interest research relating to these research areas.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Danang University of Science and Technology in 2014, Dung Nguyen obtained her master’s degree in Agriculture Science at Okayama University in 2017, Japan. Then, she attended The Graduated University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI) in alliance with National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS), Japan, where she earned her Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences in 2020. She continued to do postdoc training at the same laboratory. During her undergraduate studies, her research project has received numerous awards in Vietnam including the “Vietnam Young Talent Sciences Award”-VIFOTEC (Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations) combined with the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training. During her time in Japan, her research has been published in top-tier international journals in the research area including Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, and Communications biology.
