Fulbright University Vietnam has officially opened its new recruitment cycle for the Class of 2024. Different from the previous years, this year, we have two admissions cycles: The Priority Cycle and the Spring Cycle.

By having two cycles, we hope that those who miss the deadline for the Priority Cycle can still apply in the Spring. The admissions application can be opened free-of-charge at: https://apply.fulbright.edu.vn.

In addition to the admissions application, the financial aid application is also now available. Fulbright’s need-based financial aid packages are solely awarded based on a family’s financial circumstances and does not take into account a student’s academic merit. To successfully apply to Fulbright, an applicant must complete both the admissions and financial aid applications.

Why should I apply in the Priority Cycle?

Fulbright University Vietnam refers to the fall admissions cycle as the Priority Cycle for a reason. We expect that there will be more applications in the Priority Cycle than the Spring Cycle. Thus, in case a student does not receive an offer in the Priority Cycle, their application will be transferred to the Spring Cycle’s pool of applicants and will be reconsidered if the student decides to reapply. This allows the student to refine their application before the Spring Cycle deadline. In other words, those who apply in the Priority Cycle will have two opportunities to become Fulbright students.

Fulbright University Vietnam commits to give all students a fair chance to apply, even though there will be two cycles. The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, Le Thi Quynh Tram, explains:

“Fulbright commits to deliver a transparent and fair admissions process, in which we will judge a student based on all aspects of their ability and potential. This means there is no fixed formula to admission that is based solely on a student’s academic ability.

We read every single application carefully. Don’t worry if you don’t have an excellent transcript: The overall application allows you to demonstrate that you have potential, which is what we care about when offering you a place at Fulbright. When we read your application, we take into consideration your family background and the community you grew up in. This allows us to see you as a whole person, and genuinely see yourself as an individual, and ensures an equitable and holistic process.”

Is the application difficult?

The application is not difficult. It is just different.

“I think most students in Vietnam are still not used to an application like Fulbright’s. The application is actually not difficult. You have three months to tell and refine your story, and you don’t need to stress yourself to review any of your academic lessons to do “well” on our application.

You have the right to work and re-work on your application during these three months until you are satisfied with how your story is represented in your application. In other words, to complete this application, you need to take time to understand yourself as a person, what you love, what your values are, what you care about, and what your concerns are… Just be your best self. There is no need to compare yourself to anyone else when you work on this application,” Tram added.

Fulbright University Vietnam will organize many interesting activities during this recruitment period to showcase what the “Fulbright experience” looks and feels like. In particularly, we are organizing big recruitment events in Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon, and Hanoi.
