Introduction

Building upon the basics of observational drawing and design fundamentals in 2D/3D Foundations, this course explores drawing as an interdisciplinary tool of documentation, expression, and experimentation across diverse fields, including science, architecture, technology, and performance. Focus will be placed on developing strong conceptual and technical skills realized through verbal and visual drawing projects and exercises. Students will also develop the ability to communicate and defend their ideas through classroom studio critiques. In order to develop strong concepts and methods of visual expression, students will work on integrating knowledge from art history, personal experimentation, and critical thinking. Students will ultimately realize a process-focused final project for exhibition. Visits to exhibitions, artist studios, artist presentations and museums may be scheduled during the semester.
